In another rare colour image from the archive, workmen are seen throwing sand to the snow covered carriageway of Richmond Way in Shepherd’s Bush, just a few metres to the south of Shepherd’s Bush Green.
Uncertain of the date but I will guess 1961-1963ish.
Looking south down the street the Duke of Edinburgh pub is to the left hand side. This pub closed a few years ago.
Crowds look on as fire officers look over the remains of a shop destroyed on the corner of Shepherd’s Bush Green and Shepherd’s Bush Gardens.
The road featured in the picture (Shepherd’s Bush Gardens) was destroyed to make way for the West 12 Shopping Centre during the 1960’s. The location of the lost street was revealed by the appearance of the Shepherd’s Bush Green war memorial in the back of the wider crowd shot.
